Meet one of our amazing volunteers and discover what motivates her to dedicate her time to the youth of Sandy Ground.

Marie didn't wake up one morning and decide to become a volunteer.

It happened by accident.

A friend invited her to a Madtwoz workshop one Saturday afternoon. She came expecting to stay for an hour. She ended up staying all day.

"I Didn't Know I Needed This"

"I came in to help," Marie says with a smile. "But honestly? I think I got more from those kids than they got from me."

That first day, she helped young people paint a community mural. By the end of the afternoon, she was hooked.

A Community That Welcomes Everyone

What surprised Marie most wasn't the activities — it was the atmosphere.

"It really feels like a family," she explains.

"Everyone is welcome. No one judges. We all just show up for each other."

She now spends most of her weekends at Madtwoz, helping with workshops, mentoring young people, and even contributing ideas for new projects.

What She'd Tell Anyone Thinking About Volunteering

Marie's message is simple: "Just show up. You don't need to be an expert. You don't need experience. You just need to care."

And she's right. Every volunteer brings something different — some bring skills, some bring time, some just bring a smile. All of it matters.
